About Councillor Ellie Emberson

Ellie was elected as Reading's youngest female councillor with 1308 votes

Ellie Emberson is 20 years old and has lived in Reading West since she was born. Ellie was elected as Reading Borough Council's youngest ever female councillor in May 2018 with 50% of the vote share. Ellie grew up in the ward she was elected to represent, Minster ward. Ellie currently works as a legal secretary at a local award-winning law firm and is studying Law with the Open University. Ellie has been involved in the Labour party since 2015 and was previously involved in Reading Youth Council and was elected as Youth MP for Reading in 2014. During her time in youth politics, Ellie campaigned on issues such as mental health education, a curriculum for life and lowering the voting age to 16. Ellie is currently serving her second year as Youth Officer for Reading Labour.
